What Is The Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

The recent surge in cannabidiol (CBD) and medical/recreational marijuana has all sorts of people using the cannabis plant for its many benefits. CBD specifically can have anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory effects as well as being a possible stress reliever. The terpenes found in cannabis can also have beneficial effects. Products such as Thrive Flower’s vape pen combine CBD and specific terpenes to achieve desired effects.

What’s The Difference?

Cannabis is a family of plants with two classifications: cannabis sativa and cannabis indica. Marijuana can fall into either category. Hemp, the second type of cannabis plant, is categorized as a sativa. The CBD extracted from either plant is exactly the same on the molecular level. It does not matter the source, CBD is CBD, always. The rest of the plants’ chemical makeup differ in the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC has psychoactive effects and produces the “high” feeling.

Why Thrive Flower Uses Hemp CBD

The hemp plant is federally legal since its reclassification from a schedule one drug to an agricultural commodity as per the Farm Bill signed by President Trump. The plant needs to contain less than 0.3% THC to follow standards of legality. Any CBD product should say this on the label as well as have a QR code that can allow customers to view the test results of the product. Marijuana is still federally illegal, but a number of states have legalized it for medical and recreational use. In these states, the CBD extracted from the marijuana plant is also legal.
